How to Fit – Specialty Torsettes
Welcome! You’re about to learn how to find the specialty torsette that’s the right size for you. To do so, you’ll be using your waist and hip measurements. If you’re ready, let’s begin. This presentation will only last a few minutes. There are several reasons why a specialty torsette can be a great shaping choice. First, because all specialty torsettes have no fabric that covers the bust area, each one allows you to wear your own, favorite bra and be more comfortable. Second, each one allows you to customize your intimates ensemble. For example, if your top or dress has a low neckline, you can pair your specialty torsette with a plunge bra. Or, if you want a smooth appearance across the front of your blouse, you can wear a t-shirt bra. Third, each specialty torsette is ideal for hard-to-fit bodies. If you have difficulty finding other shapers, such as camisoles, because your bra size isn’t available, one of these shapers is for you. Fourth, specialty torsettes come in a variety of silhouettes that incorporate bottom halves similar to those found on bodybriefers, thigh slimmers, and slips. Like traditional bodybriefers, each style provides extremely smooth, all-over shaping. Finally, each of these shapers delivers solutions for multiple problems including: back fat, muffin top, tummy pooch, and love handles. Depending on the silhouette chosen, it may also address your hips, thighs, and/or saddlebags. Each specialty torsette also provides a little bust lift and helps you maintain good posture. These torsettes are some of the most versatile pieces of shapewear available. Before we talk about sizing, here’s a really helpful tip. As you may know, getting into shapewear can be a workout. But you don’t have to get hung up when putting on your specialty torsette. You’ll find the easiest way to slip on one of these shapers is by first stepping into the neck of the garment, and then pulling it up over your hips. Now it’s time to figure out which specialty torsette size is right for you. To do this, you’ll need to measure the length around your waist and hips. When measuring your waist and hips, you will need a flexible tape measure and a mirror. You may also find it helpful to have a buddy assist you. Now, we’re ready to get down to business. It’s best to take off your pants when measuring, as the fabric gets in the way of accuracy. Place the tape measure around the smallest part of your waist, following your body’s natural indentation. If you’re not sure where your smallest part is located, bend to the side to find it. Make sure that the tape lies flatly, and parallel to the ground, all the way around your body. Pull it snugly to get an accurate measurement. Round the result, up or down, to the nearest whole inch. For example, if your measurement is 29 3/8”, round down to 29”. Or, if your measurement is 29 ½”, round up to 30”. Next, we’ll measure your hips. Stand with your legs together and place the tape measure around the fullest part of your hips. This should be approximately 7” below your waist. Make sure that it lies flatly, and parallel to the ground, all the way around your body. Again, round the result, up or down, to the nearest whole inch. For example, if your measurement is 39 3/8”, round down to 39”. Or, if your measurement is 39 ½”, round up to 40”. We’re almost done. The two measurements taken together determine the size of the garment that’s right for you. Find your waist and hip measurements on the chart and you’ll discover the corresponding specialty torsette size that’s right for you. For example, if your waist size is 31 inches, and your hip measurement is 42 inches, an average-size, extra-large specialty torsette will fit you well. If your waist and hip measurements don’t correspond to one garment size, match only your hip measurement to the corresponding garment size. The fabric in shapewear is very accommodating. That's it - now you’ll feel confident when looking for the specialty torsette that's right for you.
